Bruce has always enjoyed a close relationship with the people of South Africa, beginning when he first arrived in the Cape for the filming of Matthew in 1993. Following the film’s release, he was invited to speak in venues across the country, ranging from high schools/universities to prisons, churches and political banquets, always sharing Jesus through the eyes of that acting experience.  Some have estimated that more than 150,000 South Africans received Jesus during Bruce’s days of traveling throughout SA, simply speaking wherever he was invited.

In December 2002, Bruce partnered with local “Moruti,” Pastor Martin Tivane, in a joint vision to carry the love of Jesus to the villages of the NorthWest Province. The two have since conducted 25 crusades, planted 26 churches, focused intensively on teens and children, established a Bible School and care for AIDS orphans…  

We are heartbroken to announce that in March 2011, Pastor Martin passed to Jesus.  It was a huge loss to Bruce, for they were the closest of friends and partners.  Bruce is now working closely with Martin’s widow to carry on with the work that both he and Martin felt “had only just begun.”  Thank you to you who support Bruce’s outreach to SA, which is a cornerstone of Marchiano Ministries.
