For reasons
that can only
be the Spirit of God giving specific sensitivity, as the founder of MarchMin, Bruce has always had a real "soft spot" for
older people. So
when the opp
ortunity
arose for us to reach out to the "Gogos" of these Northwest Province
villages, there was no hesitation. Most especially within the history
of South Africa, these older women are the ones who bore the brunt of such
systematic disregard and downright cruelty--things that most of us couldn't
even begin to imagine. So it is only a
remarkable privilege that, today, we can
serve and bless these very same women with the love of Jesus. Glory to the
Name of Jesus!
And so under
the guidance of Pastor Martin, who knows in a hands-on fashion exactly what
their needs are, that is exactly what we aim to do. Our "strategy," if you
will, is to 1) bless them with Jesus in all His fullness, and 2) honor
them with services and activities that not only carry the Gospel, but
uplift and impart dignity and respect.
Every Gogo
event and service is a sight to behold. There's the anticipation in the
weeks leading up to it. Then the Gogos dress in their finest outfits and
head for the bus stops where they're whisked away for an afternoon of
friendship, worship, and The Word. Every Gogo receives a gift that says,
"You'r
e
valued," and a meal "fit for a queen." They dance and dance, we pray for
their every need... and what a breathtaking thrill it all is.
These women are
precious to Jesus. They're coming to Him in great numbers. Their souls are
being restored. God is reaching into their hearts and the hearts of their
families through them... Glory to the Name of Jesus!
